Al Shaw is Designer/Developer at Talking Points Memo where he reads news and writes code.
In June 2008, he graduated from the University of Chicago, where he studied modern Middle Eastern language and culture. In the Summer of '07, Al was an intern on the Tech section of USATODAY.com, and for two years he was the webmaster at the U of C Center for Teaching and Learning. Al DJ'd a show on WHPK 88.5 fm in Chicago (which TimeOut Chicago called very, very cool) and was a copy editor for the Chicago Maroon (where he also wrote a couple of music reviews). Al has defended the latke in the pages of the New York Times.
